Timber and custom work

Carpentry and joinery in Haute-Savoie

Doors, windows, staircases, wardrobes and fitted furniture — made to measure for the room, in timber suited to its use.

In a chalet, carpentry is not decoration: it is the structure, the insulation and the finish at the same time. A staircase, a window or a wardrobe has to work with the frame, the slope of the roof and the movement of the timber through the seasons. Standard units rarely do.

We measure on site, draw the piece, and make it in the workshop before fitting. For older buildings we match the existing profiles where it matters — a moulded door frame, a handrail, a window surround — so the new work does not read as an addition.

Timber is selected for its exposure: larch and Douglas fir outside, oak or ash inside, depending on wear and finish.

Questions

Questions about this service

How long between measurement and fitting?

Four to six weeks for a staircase, three to five for doors and windows, depending on the timber and the finish. Custom pieces are made once, so the schedule is agreed in writing before the order.

Can you match the existing woodwork in an old chalet?

Yes. We take a profile template and match the section, the moulding and the finish. The new piece is often visible next to the old one, so the joint is the part that matters most.

Do you treat timber against insects and damp?

Where the timber is exposed to damp or soil contact, yes, with treatment suited to the location. We also correct the cause — a leak, a lack of ventilation, a bridge to the ground — because treatment alone does not stop rot returning.
