Renovation work in Megève
Chalets, second homes and prestige apartments: renovation that has to match the standing of the property, and upkeep that has to work when the owners are away.
Megève sets a high bar. Materials, joinery and finishes are visible and compared; a poorly matched extension or a cheap window frame is noticed immediately. The building rules are also stricter than in the valley, particularly on exterior appearance, roof geometry and the use of timber.
Most of our work here is on second homes renovated in stages, between two seasons, with decisions taken remotely and a single contact on site. We plan the work in windows that do not coincide with the rental periods, photograph each stage, and leave the chalet ready for the next stay rather than half-finished.
Between two seasons
A chalet rented out cannot be a building site in February. Work is therefore planned in the windows between seasons, with a hard stop date and a handover that leaves the property usable even if a detail remains.
That constraint decides the order: the heavy phases — roof, façade, networks — are scheduled first, the finishes last, and everything that depends on a delivery is ordered early enough not to become the reason a season is missed.
Exterior appearance is regulated
Windows, balconies, roof coverings, colours and the use of timber are all subject to rules in Megève, and some areas add their own. The application is made before the order, with the product references and a drawing of the junction.
In practice, this is where a project loses or gains weeks. A window chosen for its thermal performance but too wide for the frame profile will be refused, and the whole schedule moves. We check the constraint at the design stage, not after the delivery.

Questions
Frequently asked — Megève
Can you manage a renovation while we are abroad?
Yes, that is how most projects in Megève run. Decisions are taken by email or call, with photos and a weekly summary. A written schedule and payment milestones protect both sides. We do not start work without a signed quote and a defined decision-maker.
Do you maintain chalets between rentals?
Yes: technical checks, small repairs, snow clearing in winter and preparation before each arrival. The scope is listed in a written checklist, so nothing depends on memory.
Can you work while the chalet is rented?
Only for non-disruptive work, and with the guests informed. A renovation with demolition, dust and water cuts is incompatible with a rental week — we say so rather than trying to organise around it.
